THURSDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND: We will mention the chance of a few widely scattered showers Thursday, otherwise the weather will likely stay dry through the weekend with a warming trend continuing. The high Thursday will be between 77 and 81, followed by low to mid 80s statewide Friday through Sunday.

A few patches of light rain are moving across North and North Central Alabama this afternoon. They should be gone by 2 p.m. mostly. Tonight will be chilly, but we don’t expect frost except in a few isolated locations.
Widespread rain is affecting the area this morning, with some thunder over southern sections of the area, but no severe weather. A run of dry and eventually very warm weather will prevail this week after a couple of cool mornings Monday and Tuesday.
A large area of rain is poised to move into Alabama early this morning. It will contain some embedded thunder over southern parts of the state, but no severe weather is expected. The rain will end from the southwest during the morning hours and be mostly gone by noon.
Lots of lightning, heavy rain, and the potential for damaging wind gusts in addition to the hail.
An area of rain and storms will rumble across much of North Central Alabama over the next few hours. Heavy rain, gusty winds, and some small hail may accompany the stronger storms. CAPE values are very low and shear is marginal, so the severe weather threat is nearly non-existent. Stronger storms will be limited to the southern third of Alabama.
Severe thunderstorm over northeastern Montgomery County near Cecil. It is moving into Macon County as it moves east northeast into Macon County at 30 mph. It will be near Tuskegee before 630 p.m.
The rain and storms will move across Central Alabama tonight. Isolated storms could be severe over South Alabama.
Thunderstorms with large hail to 1.25 inches in diameter and 60 mph wind gusts may occur over South Central and South Alabama into the evening.
The 2024 Maxwell Beyond the Horizon Air and Space Show is in the books, and by all accounts, it was more successful than any previous air show held at the central Alabama, Air Force base.
We’ll have to deal with showers at times through the weekend, but the work week ahead will be bright and dry.
The NWS Birmingham has issued a significant weather advisory for the storm. Radar indicates that hail, potentially as large as 1 inch in diameter, could be approaching. Damaging wind gusts are also possible.
