It includes the northwestern part of the Birmingham Metro from Fultondale to Pleasant Grove and Concord.

Storms are lined up from Oakman to Parish, Cordova, Dora and Sumiton. They are pushing southeast.

The NWS continues the Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Dallas and Marengo Counties.

The Watch has been discontinued for Bibb, Greene, Hale, Perry, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa Counties.

The storms now extend from north of Thomaston to Camden to near Pine Apple. They will be affecting the Greenville area soon.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Marengo County

The severe thunderstorm over Sumter County will be moving into Marengo County shortly and a warning has been posted for Marengo.

The warning continues for parts of Sumter County.

The dangerous storm is located from Demopolis to near Bellamy along US-80. It is pushing southeast at 30-35 mph.

Damaging winds are the main threat. Be in a safe place as the storms approach.

And remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.

Some Counties Cleared from Watch

The upper level disturbance that is triggering the storms over western Alabama is centered near Columbus MS early this afternoon. The storms have stayed further to the south, prompting the severe thunderstorm warning for Sumter County. Further north, the storms weakened before they moved into Alabama and have not regenerated.

The severe weather trheat has ended for Fayette, Lamar and Marion Counties.

The severe thunderstorm watch continues until 5 p.m. for Bibb, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa Counties.

Thunderstorms near I-59 between Livingston and Epes have become severe. They are pushing southeast and are going to tracking through an area of moderately high instability. There is just enough bulk shear to ensure they probably will stay organized and should continue to produce a severe weather threat. Damaging winds is the primary threat.
