Be sure and scroll down for J.B.’s list of morning lows across Alabama. Won’t be as cold tonight, but there is no doubt some of the colder valleys across Northeast Alabama will drop into the 30s again with one more risk of frost.
TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: The weather looks great… dry with a warming trend. With a sunny sky tomorrow we reach the mid 70s, followed by a high around 80 over the weekend. Humidity levels will slowly rise Saturday and Sunday, but an upper ridge should keep most of Alabama shower-free with a partly to mostly sunny sky.
TO THE WEST: SPC has parts of Oklahoma and Kansas under a moderate risk for Day 3, which is Saturday… this could be a significant tornado outbreak for the Southern Plains with a few violent, long track tornadoes possible.
NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS is faster with the upper trough lifting out of the Southwest U.S., but we will keep just a small risk of shower in place Monday, and mention a much better chance of showers and storms on Tuesday. Once again, the severe weather risk for Alabama at the moment seems minimal with marginal instability, shear, and dynamic metrics. But, this is mid-April and we will keep an eye on the system as it gets closer. The latter half of the week (Wednesday-Friday) looks dry and pleasant with highs in the 70s.
See the Weather Xtreme video for the graphics and details.

I really enjoyed seeing the senior adults at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove today… the church building was within one block of the EF-4 tornado that passed through on April 27 of last year. Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow…

CALM THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Our weather will stay dry through Sunday with mostly sunny days, clear nights, and a warming trend. But, some of the colder valleys across Northeast Alabama could see some frost early tomorrow with lows in the 30s; most places will be in the 40 to 45 degree range. We hit the mid 70s tomorrow, and over the weekend the high will be close to 80. Humidity levels will gradually rise Saturday and Sunday, but an upper ridge in place will keep us dry.
TO THE WEST: Looks like Saturday could very well be a red letter day for parts of Oklahoma and Kansas; SPC has already defined a moderate risk in the day three convective outlook, with a 45 percent chance of severe weather within 25 miles of any given point. Unfortunately it looks like some violent, long track tornadoes will be possible in that region.
NEXT WEEK: Monday still looks warm and dry, but showers and storms will finally move into the state on Tuesday with the upper trough to the west lifting out. Severe weather parameters look pretty marginal for Alabama at this point with weak instability shear. Drier air arrives Wednesday, and the rest of the week looks dry. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.
AT THE BEACH: Beautiful weather for the Gulf Coast through the weekend. Expect sunny days and fair nights from Panama City west to Gulf Shores with highs in the 70s. The SST (sea surface temperature) at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab early this morning is 71 degrees.
