Miscellany and a Strong Storm

Impressive visible satellite photo from 6:10 p.m. tonight with the storms exploding across Central Alabama, looking like little nuclear explosions.

LATE DAMAGE REPORT FROM ETOWAH COUNTY EM MIKE BRYANT
Damage reports-Etowah County: Owls Hollow Road & Spring Avenue blocked by trees down. Tree down on top of Keener Community Center in Keener Community on US11 North Etowah County. Mobile Home damaged and out building blown away at 2030 Little Wills Road near Keener. 4484 Lay Springs Road-tree blocking road.

This is the same storm that Vic reported on.

This second storm is hitting Vic hard again with small hail and torrential rain. He reports the wind is not bad.

Vic Bell Reports

Vic Bell reported a doozy of a storm in northern Etowah County around 6:35-6:45 tonight.

he reported sustained winds of 70 mph for several minutes, then a lull, and a brief period of sustained winds to 80 mph.

Hail did not exceed nickel sized.

There are lots of trees down across the area and power is out.

It was posted on the WTVN 610 Facebook page.

Not sure when it happened, but that’s some big hail!

New severe thunderstorm warning until 7:30 for parts of Calhoun, Cherokee and Etowah Counties.

Intense storms from south of Centre to west of Piedmont. Strongest core is between Jacksonville and Piedmont.
