clouds-rain

Gray skies and cool is the word for much of the state at this hour. Not much rain out there right now, but our neighbors to the west are dealing with moderate to heavy rainfall.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: Most of Alabama is currently blanketed by clouds, except for the northeastern counties of the state. There is hardly any rain to speak up showing up on radar. There are a few showers showing up over parts of Lee, Russell, Barbour, Macon, Bullock, and Pike counties. Most of the rain activity is currently located over much of west and central Mississippi, and scattered showers stretching across the southern half of Georgia. No convective watches or warnings are in effect anywhere in the US at the moment.

TEMPERATURES: Current temperatures range from the middle 50s to the middle 60s across Alabama at the moment: Here is a list of a few readings across the state:

Birmingham 59
Huntsville 64
Muscle Shoals 64
Gadsden 63
Anniston 64
Alexander City 54
Montgomery 59
Mobile 61

LATER TODAY: Much of the state will remain cloudy today, and temperatures will remain cool. A few scattered showers are possible today, but rain amounts will be light and spotty as the air is relatively dry and stable. Highs will be in the 60s, but cold air damming will keep parts of far east Alabama cooler.

TOMORROW: The day will start off with clouds over much of the state, with drizzle or a little light rain possible in a few spots. Skies should start to clear gradually throughout the day, as an upper ridge begins to build. We should reach the mid 60s to 70 for much of the area.

SPRING FOOTBALL IN TUSCALOOSA: After morning clouds, the sky should become partly sunny during the “A-Day” game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa tomorrow (2:00 PM CDT kickoff), with temperatures rising to near 70 degrees during the game.

HONDA INDY GRAND PRIX OF ALABAMA: The big event is coming up at the Barber Motorsports Park April on 22-24. For now, it looks like Friday (April 22) will be mostly cloudy and mild with a chance of showers and storms, but conditions will gradually trend drier for Saturday and Sunday (April 23-24). Highs 77-80 degrees. Get ticket information here.
