An area of showers and storms is pushing into Sumter County in West Alabama at this hour. The heaviest part of the activity will move north of Livingston.

There is still quite a bit of lightning, but the activity is weakening as it pushes northeast.

An approaching upper level trough and associated surface low and cold front are responsible for the showers and storms.

Additional showers and storms may form ahead of the cold front as it pushes into Alabama after midnight.

Storms are not expected to be strong overnight though.

The overnight activity should die down in areas west of I-59 by 7 a.m. and will push out of East Alabama by 10 a.m. Additional showers with some thunder may form around the lunch hour in the I-59 Corridor. They will push southeast during the afternoon and be out of the Birmingham area before 3 p.m.
