Cool Tonight; Dry Through The Weekend

WINDY, COOL MAY DAY: Temperatures are close to 70 degrees this afternoon across North/Central Alabama (the average high for Birmingham on May 5 is 78); the sky is mostly sunny with a field of flat cumulus clouds…

Tonight will be clear and very cool with diminishing wind; we drop into the mid 40s early tomorrow morning. Birmingham’s record low of 38 for May 6, set in 1968, isn’t in danger, but a few of the traditionally colder spots across North Alabama could briefly touch the upper 30s.

TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Delightful weather. Sunny days, clear nights, and a warming trend. We reach the mid 70s tomorrow, low 80s Saturday, and mid 80s Sunday. Humidity levels will remain low.

NEXT WEEK: Monday will be warm and dry, but moisture returns along with a chance of showers and a few thunderstorms Tuesday. Looks like we will need to mention some risk of showers and storms on a daily basis each day for the rest of the week, but the chance of significant severe weather looks low. AT THE BEACH: Sunny days, fair nights along the coast from Gulf Shores over to Panama City Beach through early next week. Highs in the 70s along the immediate coast, with 80s inland. See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.
