Radar01

Shower and thunderstorm activity is starting to diminish across the state at this time, but hefty thunderstorms are still going in Walker County and in St. Clair, Etowah, Calhoun, Cleburne, Talladega, Clay, and Randolph counties. These storms continue to slowly push off to the east. None are severe at this point, but gusty winds up to 40 MPH or more, 1/2 inch hail, and dangerous lightning still could be possible.

Multiple severe thunderstorms are showing up on radar across the Southeastern U.S. The most active weather as of now appears to be over north and northeastern Tennessee, where multiple Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are in effect. More warnings are in effect for storms located in Central Kentucky, Northwestern North Carolina, Central Virginia, and eastern South Carolina.

Storms have developed back to our west near to the cold front. These are stretching from Southern Arkansas through much of Central Mississippi. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for a cell located over Bradley and Calhoun Counties in Arkansas, for 60 MPH wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

The latest HRRR model run still has showers and thunderstorms moving into the state and pushing through later this evening. Looks like the next round of storms for the Birmingham area will arrive during the 7PM-9PM time frame tonight. These storms will push through to south and east Alabama, and will start to diminish once they get near or just past the I-85 corridor around 3AM-5AM early Friday morning.
