Weekend Cooling Trend Ahead

| May 13, 2016 @ 2:57 pm

**No Weather Xtreme video this afternoon… I am live at the Buck Creek Festival in Helena on ABC 33/40 News at 4, 5, and 6**

DRY THROUGH MONDAY: We project a sunny day tomorrow as the weekend begins; the humidity will be low, and the high will be in the upper 70s. Sunday will be even cooler with a high close to 70 with a mix of sun and clouds. Some communities over the northern third of the state won’t get out of the 60s.

And, we should mention we are expecting upper 40s at daybreak Sunday; that isn’t too far away from the record low for May 15 (for Birmingham)… 43 set in 1917.

NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday look dry and warmer with a high back in the low 80s. An approaching front will bring a chance of showers and storms Wednesday. The GFS continues the idea of drier air Thursday, but another round of showers/storms Friday as the front lifts northward as a warm front. For now we don’t see any significant risk of severe weather.

AT THE BEACH: Mostly sunny days, fair nights on the Gulf Coast from Gulf Shores to Panama City through Tuesday. Highs around 80 on the immediate coast, with mid 80s inland. See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.

REGIONS TRADITION: The Regions Tradition will be held this year at the Greystone Golf and Country Club May 18-22… the latest model data suggests there will some risk of showers and storms on Wednesday, and then again Friday (May 18 and May 20)… then drier conditions for the weekend (May 21-22). Highs in the 80s. Get more information about the tournament here.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
