A Little Wintry Mix

| December 18, 2016 @ 9:00 am

Temperatures are near or below freezing now northwest of a line from southern Lamar County through Marion, Fayette and Winston Counties on into the Huntsville area.

Rain, freezing rain and sleet continues across the area with freezing temperatures. We can’t rule out a few pockets of a light wintry mix might be occurring from southern Lamar through Marion, Fayette, Walker, Winston, Jefferson and into Cullman Counties and perhaps Blount through the afternoon hours.

Light accumulations of sleet and freezing rain may occur in areas where the temperature goes to or below freezing. It will be mainly on cars and raised surfaces as the road infrastructure is still warm from yesterday, so we aren’t expecting significant problems.

But we will be watching, and so should you if you have any holiday activities or errands planned.
