Heads Up In North Alabama, Strong Storms Occuring

A Significant Weather Advisory has been issued by the NWS Huntsville for Southwestern Madison, Southeastern Limestone, and Northern Morgan counties until 10:00 PM CST. At 930 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Decatur, moving east at 35 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include Huntsville, Decatur, Madison, Redstone Arsenal, Priceville, Trinity, Triana, Huntsville International Airport, University Of Alabama In Huntsville and Marshall Space Flight Center.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike several miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
