Flood Advisory Issued for Counties in South-Central & East-Central Alabama

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flood Advisory until 315 PM CST for:

Chilton County in Alabama…
Western Lowndes County in south central Alabama…
Northwestern Elmore County in east central Alabama…
Central Perry County in Alabama…
Autauga County in Alabama…
Southeastern Bibb County in Alabama…
Western Coosa County in east central Alabama…
Dallas County in south central Alabama…
Southeastern Marengo County in southwestern Alabama…

At 108 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Selma, Clanton, Valley Grande, Marion, Centreville, Jemison,
Mosses, Rockford, Weogufka, Selmont-West Selmont, Thorsby, Autaugaville, White Hall, Maplesville, Gordonville, Orrville, Billingsley, Benton, Bogue Chitto and Talladega National Forest.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.
