Clearing Skies And Cooler At Midday

| February 15, 2017 @ 1:35 pm

At the one o’clock hour across Central Alabama, skies have cleared out for the northern half of the area, with some cloud cover hanging tough in the south. All of the rain associated with the surface low that moved through late last night and early this morning has completely moved well out of the state, and almost out into the Atlantic Ocean. Only some scattered storms remain for the Florida Peninsula up through southeast Georgia and the southern tip of South Carolina. Northeast of that, only the back edge of the rain shield is affecting the extreme eastern parts of North Carolina.

For the remainder of the day and tonight, if the skies are not clear at this point, they will become clear before the end of the afternoon. Otherwise, skies will be sunny, and afternoon highs will top out in the mid 50s to the mid 60s across Central Alabama. For tonight and through the predawn hours on Thursday, skies will be clear and it will be chilly. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the lower to mid 30s across the area, with a few colder spots making it into the 20s.
