UAB Patient Joy O’Neal Raises Awareness About Congestive Heart Failure

Women experience heart disease differently than men. Some women dismiss symptoms as menopause and never receive the treatment they need. Many have to advocate for themselves to receive proper care in order to survive.

UAB is changing that.

Diagnosing and treating women who might otherwise slide under the radar is the goal of UAB Medicine’s quickly growing Women’s Heart Health Clinic, which officially opened this year.
