Strong Storms Affecting Parts Of Marion and Lamar Counties

At 1143 PM CDT, strong thunderstorms were along a line extending from New Salem to near Lake Buttahatchee. Movement was southeast at 25 mph. Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include…Hamilton, Winfield, Guin, Brilliant, Glen Allen, Detroit, Beaverton, Gu-Win, Weston, Lake Buttahatchee, Twin, Tucker, Henson Springs, Pearces Mill, Rankin Fite Airport, Pine Springs, Texas, Byrd, Marion County Public Lake and Piney Grove.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
