Tons of Lightning in North Alabama Storms

| March 27, 2017 @ 11:53 pm

Strong thunderstorms continue to push southward into North Central Alabama late tonight.

Just before midnight, they extend across Marion, Winston and northwestern Cullman Counties. From there, they are weaker as they extend into Northeast Alabama.

The storms are not severe, but they do have lots of vivid lightning. There will also be brief heavy rain, gusty winds and some small hail.

Small hail was reported in Haleyville a short time ago.

The storms will continue to weaken. They should hold together long enough to reach the Birmingham area around 2 a.m. but should dissipate shortly thereafter.
