Mostly Sunny And Nice At Midday

| April 15, 2017 @ 12:28 pm

A VERY NICE DAY ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA
Other than a few small clouds floating overhead, skies are sunny across Central Alabama at the midday hour. Ridging is keeping us in a fair-weather pattern, and it will allow the temperatures to warm well above average for mid-April. Dewpoints are currently in the mid to upper 50s, so these warm temperatures will actually be quite comfortable.

TEMPERATURES ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA
At the noon hour, temperatures are ranging from the mid 70s to the lower 80s across Central Alabama. The warm spot is currently Jasper at 81 degrees, while the cool spot is currently Alexander City at 74 degrees.

ANOTHER DAY WITH ABOVE-AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
The upper-level ridge will continue to be in control of our weather pattern in Central Alabama, but has started to weaken some. Skies will be mostly clear for the daytime hours, and afternoon highs will once again be up in the lower to mid 80s across Central Alabama. Dewpoints will be in the mid to upper 50s for the most part, making those high temperatures feel rather comfortable. There may be an isolated shower or storm in the extreme southwestern part of Central Alabama, but the odds are rather low. The evening and overnight hours will feature partly cloudy to mostly clear skies, and lows will be in the upper 50s to the lower 60s.

A PRETTY NICE EASTER SUNDAY
The ridge weakens and will allow a short wave to move close to the area. Skies will be partly cloudy throughout the day, and with the weakening ridge and increasing moisture with a southerly flow, there will be a small risk for isolated showers and storms in the extreme western and southern parts of Central Alabama. Afternoon highs will top out in the lower to mid 80s across the area. While most of the area will remain dry, the odds for any one location to get rain in the western and southern parts of the area will be around 1 in 5.

A QUICK LOOK AT NEXT WEEK
We will have a small risk for showers moving in from the north with a sagging surface front starting during the pre-dawn hours on Monday. Those rain chances will be best for the northern half of Central Alabama, but nearly all of the area will have a small risk of a shower or storm. Those chances will continue for the day on Tuesday and the afternoon hours on Wednesday for the northern half of the area. Rainfall amounts will be light… just enough to knock the pollen and dust down for a little bit. Warm and dry conditions can be expected throughout the remainder of the work week.

A VOODOO LAND LOOK AT NEXT WEEKEND
Looks like ridging over the southeast will break down for the weekend of the April 22nd-23rd, and this will introduce better chances of showers and storms throughout the weekend.
