A Few Showers Out There, But It’s Really Warm At Midday

| April 18, 2017 @ 12:41 pm

At the midday hour, skies are mostly clear to partly cloudy over Central Alabama, with shower activity to the northeast and the eastern parts of the state. Much of the southeastern U.S. currently have some cloud cover, with a main concentration of storms up in Tennessee, and another batch over in northern Louisiana and central Mississippi.

Currently we have a few scattered showers and thunderstorms over the eastern parts of the area, and up in the northeastern parts of the state. These are slowly moving to the northeast.

FOR THE REST OF TODAY
Skies will generally remain partly cloudy across Central Alabama until the late afternoon to the early evening hours, and will begin to clear out by nightfall. A small risk for scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the afternoon hours, especially along and north of the I-20 corridor. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid 80s for much of the area, with a few upper 80s in the southern portions. Skies will be mostly clear for tonight, and all rain should have diminished by 10PM. Lows will be in the lower to the mid 60s.

TEMPERATURES ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA AT 12:25PM
Temperatures are currently ranging from the upper 70s in the north, to the lower 80s in the south. The warm spot is currently Eufaula with full sunshine at 87 degrees. The cool spot is Anniston at 72 degrees.

JUST A VERY SMALL RISK FOR SHOWERS & STORMS FOR WEDNESDAY
A near repeat of today for Wednesday’s weather… Most of the state will remain dry throughout the entire day, but there is a very small chance for an isolated afternoon shower or storm to develop. The odds of any one spot getting any rain will be around 1 in 5. Afternoon highs will be up in the low to mid 80s.
