Birmingham Ties Record High for the Date

| April 20, 2017 @ 4:58 pm

Beautiful photo of Birmingham today from Tommie Armistead (@armisteadte).

The record high for April 20th was tied today at the Birmingham Airport with 88 degrees.

It was 88 also on this date in 1987 and 2002.

Central Alabama Highs for 4/20/17

It was the second time the mercury has hit 88F this month (also on April 13th). It is the second highest reading so far with year, only bested by the 89F on March 21st.

Not hitting 90F yet is not unusual. If it had hit 90F today, it would have been the 5th earliest in history. The earliest that we ever hit 90F in Birmingham was March 21, 1907.
