Strong Storm Affecting Parts of Lauderdale, Colbert, & Franklin Counties

At 1125 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Belgreen, or 10 miles west of Russellville, moving northeast at 60 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph…frequent lightning…and very heavy rainfall will be possible with this storm.

Therefore a SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued until 12:00AM CDT for south/central Lauderdale, southwestern Colbert, and northwestern Franklin counties.

Locations impacted include…
Russellville, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Littleville, Belgreen, Posey Loop, La Grange, Tharptown, Rockwood and Red Rock.

Very heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike several miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
