Heads Up Pickens, Lamar, Sumter

| April 27, 2017 @ 12:01 am

Severe storms are approaching Lamar and Pickens County just before midnight.

One is just southeast of Columbus MS. It has strong indications of damaging winds. It will track into northern Pickens near Macedonia shortly and into Lamar, near Millport a short time later.

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Lowndes County MS, which is Columbus.

Another is north of Macon Mississippi coming into Pickens County. It will pass near Carrollton. It has had some suspicious looking couplet type signatures over the past couple of volume scans. Can’t rule out a small spin up tornado.

An even stronger storm is near DeKalb MS. It will move into northern Sumter shortly, passing near Emelle, Geiger and Gainesville. Be in a safe place as these dangerous storms approach. Watch for falling trees especially!
