A Mother’s Day Gift: The Weather

| May 14, 2017 @ 11:17 am

Our thanks can never be enough for our mothers, but we try really hard on this day to let them know how much we appreciate them. Happy Mother’s Day to all our moms out there!

THE WEATHER DEPARTMENT’S GIFT TO MOMS: Is the weather. Lows across the area were quite nice, even by mid-May standards. Mist spots across Central Alabama were in the lower 50s, including the 52F at Tuscaloosa and Anniston, the 54F at Birmingham and the 55F at Calera. These readings are some 12-15 degrees below average for this time of year. The chilliest reading in the state this morning was 44F at Russellville. Fort Payne dropped to 45F and Decatur to 48F.

The rest of the day will be beautiful, just like Mom! Lots of sunshine, with just a stray cloud or two, low humidity and a light easterly breeze will make for a nice day as highs warm into the lower 80s. Lows tonight will be in the upper 50s.

A TASTE OF SUMMER: Outside of tomorrow, Central Alabama will spend the week flirting with highs around 90F, some 7-10 degrees above average. Lows will gradually warm from the lower 60s into the upper 60s. The only chance for rain will come Thursday afternoon as moisture begins to increase from the southeast. The chance will be very small.

PERFECT WEATHER FOR REGIONS: This means some of the best weather on record for the Regions Tradition golf tournament at Greystone. The Regions Tradition is returning to Greystone Golf & Country Club May 17-21 and tickets are now on sale. Come see some of the world’s greatest golfers such as Bernhard Langer, John Daly, Freddie Couples and many more right in our own backyard. Tickets start at only $20. Also, children 18 & under are admitted free with a ticketed adult!

NEXT REAL RAIN: Looks like the next decent rain for us will be Monday and Tuesday the 22nd and 23rd.
