Strong Storm Affecting Jefferson & Blount Counties

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SOUTH CENTRAL BLOUNT AND NORTHEASTERN JEFFERSON COUNTIES UNTIL 4:00 PM CDT

At 3:35 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Pinson-Clay-Chalkville, moving north at 35 mph. Pea size hail will be possible with this storm.

Birmingham, Trussville, Leeds, Moody, Oneonta, Pinson-Clay-Chalkville, Dallas, Center Point, Clay, Pinson, Argo, Locust Fork, Trafford, Allgood, Hayden, County Line, Chalkville, Alton, Grayson Valley and Palmerdale.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
