Cindy May Be Strengthening

| June 21, 2017 @ 6:42 pm

At 5:55 p.m., Oil Platform High Island 376 at 27.934 N 93.669 W measured a wind gust to 65 knots (75 mph) which is hurricane force. The barometer was down to 991 mb, meaning that Cindy may be strengthening.

Winds at the platform also shifted from west to northwest, potentially indicating that the center may be lifting to the northeast. The Lake Charles radar shows what may be the center, and it appears that the center is stationary. Satellite imagery shows what may be a north or northeast movement.

At 615 p.m. the pressure was up to 994 mb, possibly meaning the center is moving away. Winds were gusting to 59 knots.

Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter Mission 05 is departing Biloxi now. We will know more soon.
