The Latest on the Alabama Weather Situation Through 3:40 p.m.

3:35 pm – Tremendous rotation just southwest of Dadeville. Big threat of a tornado potentially affecting Jacksons Gap on US-280 shortly. Be in safe shelter now in Jacksons Gap and western part of Dadeville.

3:27 pm – Things are calming west of I-65 a bit. Most of the action is east of I-65. Strongest storms are north of Gadsden, northeast of Montgomery and over Dadeville. These pose the greatest threat of potential rotation right now.

3:25 pm – No warnings in effect now in Alabama. Now the most dangerous storms are east and northeast of Montgomery and near Dadeville. The Wetumpka storm will pass near Eclectic, Tallassee and Shorter. Could develop rotation again at any moment.

3:19 pm The Tornado Warning for Clay has been canceled but there is still strong rotation showing on radar. Stay in your safe place in places like Ashland and Lineviille. Another rotation is developing just north of Alex City. Will follow the same track basically.

3:16 pm We continue to have a threat of tropical tornadoes for the rest of the afternoon in a high shear environment east of the remnants of Cindy. The NWS has added the following counties to the tornado watch: Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Cherokee, Cleburne, Lee, Pike, Randolph, Russell [AL] till 10:00 PM CDT.

3:07 pm Tornado warning continues for Clay and Tallapoosa Counties. Rotation entering Clay County passing just west of Goldville. Will pass southeast of Ashland. Be in safe shelter now!!! Two more rotations are near Jackson’s Gap and southwest of Dadeville. They will pass near Jackson’s Gap and west of Dadeville. Very impressive. Will eventually move toward New Site and Goldville.

2:57 pm NEW TORNADO WARNING for parts of Clay and Tallapoosa County. Very dangerous circulation west of New Site. Will move toward Lineville and Cragford.

2:55 pm Tornado warning canceled for Jefferson and Shelby County.
