Still Heavy Clouds to the North and Southwest; A Few Light Showers as Well

A persistent band of clouds continues over North Central Alabama this afternoon. Places like Sulligent, Vernon, Fayette, Jasper, Double Springs and Oneonta are still socked in with cloudy skies.

A few light showers continue from northern Pickens and Lamar Counties across Fayette, Walker and Cullman Counties into Marshall and DeKalb.

A few showers have been trying to form south of Birmingham as well.

So while the Magic City is sitting in bright sunshine at this hour, clouds are thick to the north and southwest. Clouds will increase over the Birmingham area, dimming hopes of those pool goers who were hoping to enjoy some sun.

And there could be a few light showers as well.

Drier air continues to filter southward. The dewpoint at Muscle Shoals is now 51F. This drier air will continue to push southward through the afternoon,
