| July 6, 2017 @ 4:59 am

For the North Atlantic…Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

Two named storms formed in the basin in June. Based on a 30-year
climatology (1981-2010), a named storm forms in the basin in June
about once every other year, with a hurricane forming once every
seven or eight years. The 2017 Atlantic hurricane season had an
early start with the formation of Tropical Storm Arlene in April.

In terms of the Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE), which measures the
combined strength and duration of tropical storms and hurricanes,
