Flood Advisory for Fayette & Lamar Counties Until 1:30PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Advisory for Minor Flooding in Poor Drainage Areas for…
Fayette County in west central Alabama…
Lamar County in west central Alabama…

* Until 130 PM CDT

* At 1133 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding. Overflowing poor
drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.
One to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Winfield, Fayette, Vernon, Sulligent, Glen Allen, Kennedy,
Detroit, Belk, Beaverton, Gu-Win, Bluff, Blooming Grove, Lamar
County Airport, Crews, Bedford, Bankston, Gattman, Cody, Stone
Wall and Henson Springs.

Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
