Heaviest Rain Pushes South and East

The heaviest rain has moved south of I-459 in the Birmingham Metro at this hour.

Areas from northern Bibb through Shelby and into Talladega Counties are receiving the heaviest rainfall at this time.

One hour rainfall rates of up to an inch have been occurring. The Birmingham Airport picked up 1.08 inches of rain between 7 and 8 a.m. The total since midnight has been 2.52 inches!

I picked up 1.88 inches in Vestavia between 6 and 9 a.m.

The NWS Birmingham has issued an Areal Flood Advisory for parts of Shelby and Talladega Counties till 11:15 AM CDT.

Remember, turn around, don’t drown! Do not enter flooded area.

There have already been water rescues in the Birmingham Metro area.
