Hot August Weekend

| August 19, 2017 @ 12:43 pm

Plenty of sunshine out there today which is allowing temperatures to make their way well into the upper and 80s and lower 90s this afternoon.

Only a few clouds in the sky this afternoon and the radar continues to get a break as there are very few showers and storms out there early this afternoon.

We are not expecting much in the way of rain the rest of today or tomorrow as rain chances are generally under ten percent. We are going to maintain slightly above average temperatures, around five degrees or so, as highs tomorrow will once again venture into the mid 90s. Of course with the humidity levels, the heat index will be over 100° at times as well.

THE GREAT AMERICAN ECLIPSE: The dry weather looks to continue for the most part into Monday and it looks like a good day to watch a solar eclipse. We are forecasting a partly to mostly sunny sky, with a few cumulus clouds during the eclipse Monday from 12 Noon to 3:00PM. The chance of a shower for any one spot is small, and the high will be in the low 90s. And, as we have been reminding you for weeks, do NOT look at the sun with the naked eye or regular sunglasses at any point during the eclipse. You must have eclipse sunglasses which have a special film on them. The peak darkness in Central Alabama will come between 1:30-135PM.
