Huntsville Graupel

Thanks to Stephen Smyley for these images… he writes:

“Andy Kula reported it as Graupel, officially at HSV? I didn’t know what it was. It was too big to be sleet, too soft to be hail, and didn’t look like snow so much either. Really neat though. It lasted about a minute from the passing cloud, and it was 49 degrees when it fell. You guys can use these if you want. I just wanted a picture of it, because I had never seen it before. Rare for this part of the country, I guess, but not the Midwest.

Have a great evening!”
