I didn’t say we wouldn’t have storms overnight, I just said the severe threat had diminished to some degree.

Across Central Alabama…

TUSCALOOSA COUNTY
Storms north and west of the city of Tuscaloosa. Some lightning and heavy rain.

JEFFERSON AND SHELBY COUNTIES
Significant weather alert in Effect. Nice cluster of storms from Alabaster to Columbiana and Wilsonville up to Sterrett. These storms may stay mainly in Shelby County, but could graze southern and extreme eastern Jefferson County. Good bit of lightning with them. Will move into St. Clair and western Talladega Counties as well.

ETOWAH/CHEROKEE
Small but vigorous cell north of Hokes Bluff passing into Cherokee County near and south of Centre. Some hail possible here.

NORTH ALABAMA
Moderate rain and storms are over Cullman and Blount Counties up into Marshall County.

MODERATE RAIN AREA
A mass of moderate rain covers much of eastern Mississippi into Alabama’s Pickens, Lamar, Fayette , Marion, Winston and Franklin Counties.

TORNADO WATCH CONTINUES
But the tornado threat is decreasing according to the SPC. The watch is in effect until 3 a.m. for West Central Alabama including the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham areas.

TO THE WEST
Things are a lot calmer over Mississippi and Louisiana. One severe thunderstorm warning in the Delta, but that storm is on a weakening trend also.

FOURTEEN FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS
14. Count ’em. 14 flash flood warnings over Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. Flash flood watches continue for teh Tennessee Valley of Alabama as well as a few counties in Northwest Alabama.

JASON IS IN THE HOUSE
Jason Simpson will be at ABC3340 until the threat is over. Ashley will be back in the morning. And I will be blogging.
