Now that the first wave of storms is mostly to the east… what is up for the rest of this afternoon and tonight? Lots of baseball and softball tournaments and other outdoor events are scheduled for this evening.

We are getting some nice breaks in the overcast at midday, which will help temperatures rise back into the 70s. But, the air over North Alabama has really been worked over by the morning storms. Sure seems like the best chance of additional severe weather will be over the southern half of Alabama this afternoon into tonight, mostly south of a line from Livingston to Greensboro to Clanton and to Roanoke. Storms in this parts of Alabama could produce hail, high winds, and an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.

Over the northern counties, it is likely that more rain arrives this evening and tonight, and maybe even a few thunderstorms. The best chance of additional rain for places like Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Anniston, and Gadsden will come after 3:00 p.m. It just doesn’t look like severe weather is especially likely due to the relatively stable air over North Alabama. But you know the deal, when it comes to thunderstorms, expected the unexpected. We will be watching…
