I have so been out of the loop with weather happenings since it’s been sunny and beautiful all week.. Guess this RO will have something to do over the next few days…

    Bill,
What’s the thinking on the Ida impacts for North AL? Like around Decatur, Huntsville, Russellville, Hartselle, etc.? I’ve heard the wind may just be around 10-15 mph or so with some gusts to 20 or so.

  3. James Kinkaid Skywatcher Says:

James I got to disagree with your tweet about media hype. Water temps are 77 just offshore so I think that we have trouble brewing. Our local media is down playing it and I think that isn’t the right thing to do right now .

    Katie:

I would expect winds to increase out of the northeast on Tuesday, averaging 12-22 mph, with occasional gusts over 25 mph. Should not cause any real problems.

I am leaving on a flight to the West Coast at 4:20 on Tuesday. Should I expect delays or should the worst be gone by then?

  6. Bill Murray Says:

Take us with you English teacher!

You should be fine, with improving conditions by then.

  7. Jeff Says:

I understand James’s position. I keep hearing about it on CNN/Weather Channel/Accuweather. I think they are just feeling like it’s a big story since there haven’t been many this year to threaten the US. But then again, weather is always tricky. I’m surprised we haven’t seen the fall type severe weather we usually see.

I’m more worried about the pressure gradient between the high to the north and the low to the south than Ida as a ‘Cane. Could make for some interesting wind observations in the I-20 corridor monday night into tuesday.
