Mid Afternoon in Alabama
Our low-pressure area over the NW Gulf of Mexico seems to be in no hurry. As a result, rain has been slow about spreading into Alabama. We have backed up our weather forecast to indicate rain for most of tonight and Sunday. The rain should diminish late in the day Sunday and especially Sunday night.
At mid-afternoon, the center of the low-pressure area is still off the Louisiana coast. Brisk easterly winds will be setting in as the low moves eastward. Radar at mid-afternoon shows that the heaviest rain was inland over South Louisiana. Temperatures in that area could not get out of the 50s this afternoon, making for a rather miserable day.
Just before 3:00, rain continued to spread into West/Central and SW Alabama. It was spreading toward the NE. Most of that rain was from about Sumter in Marengo County down to the Mobile area. The rain will continue to overspread Alabama tonight and Sunday.
Rain amounts should vary considerably with the lighter amounts in the Tennessee Valley and gradually getting heavier as you go south. We are projecting around 1/2 inch or so for the Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Anniston area with around 1 inch south of Montgomery and over 1 inch in the Mobile area.

Looks like the rain is almost here. Did anyone see the end of the LSU-Ole Miss game? Wow! I caught the last five minutes. My kale/sage/pansies have enjoyed the nice days we have had recently. Camellias are doing well, too.

Went to ATL on a day trip. Thankfully, the rain held off for the FB games today; and I didn’t run into any rain until on the way back around the Mercedes plant.
