Alabama Weather Update – 3:15 p.m.

Clouds have been increasing all day across the state in a southwesterly flow. They have been enhanced somewhat by a weak upper level disturbance, a little trough in the mid level flow up about 10,000 feet.
A few radar returns were showing up on radars across southern Alabama and Mississippi, but that precipitation is not reaching the ground according to surface reports. The airmass across the South is still too dry. But that will be changing as moisture levels increase Sunday night and showers return overnight.
The cloudiness affected today’s temperatures, with the warmest readings coming up north where readings in the Tennessee Valley managed to reach the upper 60s. Upper 50s and lower 60s were common across Central Alabama. Overnight lows will drop to near 40 degrees in most spots.
