Regional radars late on this Sunday morning show a batch of showers sliding eastward across Northern Mississippi and western Tennessee.

The showers produced just under a quarter inch of rain at Memphis.

At 11 o’clock, it was raining in Greenwood, Mississippi, where 0.07 inches had fallen in an hour.

These showers will reach Northwestern Alabama this afternoon, affecting areas mainly from Lamar and Fayette Counties northeastward to Huntsville.

The main rain will come later tonight, as moisture pooling ahead of a trough and surface front to the west of Alabama moves eastward.

Showers will become likely during the overnight hours, lasting into Monday morning. In the I-59 corridor, it looks like the best chance for rain will come between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Rainfall amounts should average about a third of an inch.

Highs this afternoon will be in the middle 60s. Lows tonight will drop to around 50 degrees.

James Spann says we’re gonna have a blizzard!! see below

There could be a brief changeover to light snow over extreme Northeast Alabama.

Does anyone know what very large ring around the moon is tonight?

  3. Julie Says:

Maybe it got jealous of Saturn! :D Actually:

“The ring around the Moon is caused by the refraction of Moonlight (which of course is reflected sunlight) from ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. The shape of the ice crystals results in a focusing of the light into a ring. Since the ice crystals typically have the same shape, namely a hexagonal shape, the Moon ring is almost always the same size.”
