December 8, 2009, 4:14 pm | J.B. Elliott | Severe Weather

Showers fairly numerous over North and Central Alabama late this afternoon..

This includes moderate to heavy showers east and SE of Birmingham and also between Tuscaloosa and Centreville.

Also moderate to heavy rain over Randolph County in East Central Alabama.

Some thunderstorms now in progress over NW Alabama places like marion and Franklin County.

But the most active lightning is west of Alabama. Everything moving NE

The Storm Prediction Center has all of Alabama under a slight risk tonight.

To the west a Tornado Watch continues until 9 tonight for parts of Louisiana and a good portion of Mississippi.

It is likely that we will see a watch in Alabama this evening. Could be a Severe Thunderstorm Watch or possibly even a Tornado Watch.

Interesting to note that no warnings have been issued in the Louisiana-Mississippi Watch so far.
