Heads Up Sumter/Greene

December 8, 2009, 7:53 pm | Bill Murray | Severe Weather

The thunderstorm just north of Meridian still shows signs of a potential tornado.

It will pass into Sumter County, paralleling and remaining north of I-59.

Communities affected in Sumter will be from Emelle up to Boyd and points northeast…including Gainesville, Mt. Hebron, West Greene, Clinton and Union.

If you reside in a mobile home, give yourself plenty of time to go to a more substantial home, building or underground shelter.

Tornado warnings may be required for Sumter County soon.

Our friends down in West central Alabama south of Tuscaloosa through Sumter, Greene, a;e, Perry, Dallas and Marengo Counties should be especially alert for potential tornado development from any storms that approach over the next few hours.
