Ice Atop Mt. Cheaha

Our friends up on Alabama’s highest mountain are very close to having some icing issues this morning… I just peeked at the observation from the ABC 33/40 SKYCAM at the restaurant up there and the thermometer is showing 32 degrees with a soaking rain falling. They should ease up into the mid 30s by midday, hopefully preventing major ice issues up there, but just a reminder of how the weather can change around here as the elevation increases or decreases.

You can see some ice in this image captured from the SKYCAM around 6:45 this morning:

The peak at Cheaha is 2,407 feet above sea level. I wish I was up there right now enjoying the breakfast buffet at the Pinhoti Room!
