Roads Becoming Icy

Temperatures are below freezing in the Birmingham metro, and we are hearing of ice related accidents.

Some notes…

*Oneonta Police Dept has closed all city streets until further notice due to icy conditions.

*Gadsden [Etowah Co, AL] emergency mngr reports SNOW of E0.0 INCH at 05:58 PM CST — numerous roadways throughout etowah county have become icy and treacherous. an advisory has been issued about deteriorating conditions.

*Roads in the Dora/Corner/ Bagley area, Bagley Rd & Corner School Rd very slick. Iced over patches.

DEKALB COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY IN FORT PAYNE.
A LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY HAS BEEN DECLARED IN DEKALB COUNTY…DUE
TO WIDESPREAD TREACHEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS. MANY ROADS ACROSS THE
COUNTY ARE CLOSED DUE TO SNOW AND ICE…BUT DANGEROUS ROAD
CONDITIONS ARE REPORTED EVERYWHERE. IN ADDITION…TEMPERATURES ARE
NOT EXPECTED TO RISE ABOVE FREEZING FOR SEVERAL DAYS…SO TRAVEL
CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN DANGEROUS FOR THE NEAR FUTURE.
RESIDENTS OF DEKALB COUNTY ARE STRONGLY URGED TO REMAIN OFF THE
ROADS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
