Driving Conditions Becoming Very Dangerous

| January 7, 2010 @ 7:04 pm | 2 Replies

We are getting dozens of reports of ice related accidents, especially over the central and eastern part of Alabama this evening. There is great concern for those driving home from BCS Championship gatherings and parties.

Some notes…

*Etowah County EMA reports ALL roads in Etowah County are closed now.

*From Twitter: Roads around Jacksonville freezing fast. Just left house to find wreck near by. I slid off road trying to avoid it.

*Oneonta police department has closed all city streets until further notice due to icy conditions.

*Roads in Cleburne County are becoming icy…a number of accidents on County Road 24 and State Highway 281 going to Cheaha.

*Road all over Randolph County becoming icy…several accidents…extra deputies are on patrol and reporting ice all over the roads.

*Snow is coming down real good here in Wedowee right now…grassy areas and driveways are becoming covered.

More updates coming…
