Rain is widespread across Alabama this evening, except over the Extreme Southeast. The heaviest rain was from south of the Tuscaloosa area down into Southwest Alabama. Heaviest of all seemed to be over Choctaw County.

Also, there is some lightning involved over Southwest Alabama.

FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NWS, Mobile has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 8:45 for Choctaw County and the NW part of both Clarke and Washington County. An additional inch or so is expected in the warned area where the ground is already soaked. Some thunderstorms involved also.

Everything is moving toward the northeast. So far in this storm, the rain has not been especially heavy over most of North Alabama. But the rain will get heavier later this evening and the rain will last all night.

The low pressure area, really involved in all of this, was centered just off the Louisiana and Mississippi Coast early tonight. It will track toward the northeast.

Heavy rain was observed this evening in parts of Mississippi. Heavy rain reported at Jackson, Meridian, Vicksburg and Hattiesburg. Jackson reports 1.02 inches just since noon and Hattiesburg 1.44 inches. This heavier rain was spreading northeast toward Alabama.
