The weather pattern across the Southeast US is remaining somewhat unchanged for the weekend with a weak upper low over Louisiana gradually weakening while the air mass remains moist and warm. The result will be more of the same with scattered showers primarily occurring during the afternoon and early evening hours. Coverage is expected to be somewhat limited much as we saw yesterday. Rainfall amounts will vary greatly with some spots getting a nice soaking with one half to one inch while other spots could remain completely dry.

More of the same Sunday but into Monday there is a good possibility we’ll see a weak front move through Central Alabama in response to the upper trough moving across the eastern Great Lakes and New England. The front will not be especially strong but it could usher in some slightly dryer air which will make it feel much nicer. MOS guidance is printing out dew points possibly into the upper 50s which would sure feel nice, but even a 5 degree reduction in dew points will be welcome.

The drier air also means less possibility for showers on Monday and Tuesday. But as the upper ridge builds back into the Southeast from the west on Wednesday and into the latter part of the week, scattered showers will return along with heat as we could see highs back into the lower 90s by Thursday and Friday.

The main focus for weather is along the stationary front that stretched from New England to Colorado. The SPC has outlooked a moderate risk area from Pennsylvania across northern Illinois and Indiana. The risk for severe storms moves to the Mid-Atlantic states on Day 2.

Tropics remain quiet for now.

Voodoo country appears relatively active with a continuation of strong troughs moving through the westerlies which remain to our north. Ridging and scattered showers appear to be the big factors for the long range outlook.
