Embarking On A Special Trip
I will be away from the weather business for the next 10 days… I am helping coach a 12 year old baseball team called the “Hoover East Heat”. We leave tonight for Cooperstown, New York, the home of baseball, to play in a week-long tournament at the Cooperstown Dreams Park. We will be there with about 100 other teams from around the nation, in what should be a week these kids won’t soon forget. We are taking a charter bus for the long ride, so expect some pictures and posts from the road in coming days.
Thanks in advance to Mike Murphy and Garry Kelly at ABC 33/40, and J.B. Elliott, Bill Murray, Brian Peters, and the rest of the gang at the Weather Company for allowing me to take this trip. When it comes to raising children, the days are long, but the years are short. We will cherish this fantastic memory.

All right! Let’s go for a big win. If the folks in the Northeast think it’s hot up there now, just wait until the Hoover Heat East takes the field. Have fun. Be safe. Come back champs. Everyone here will be rooting for you and praying for you to have a safe and fun trip.

Have a great trip! They say it takes a village to raise a child – and sometimes a large group of weather folks too. Hats off to the weather team for pitching in so you can be good Father and mentor to these boys. Hope you all have a safe and wonderful trip.

Best of luck, James! As a meteorologist who follows your excellent insights from afar, and who has worked in that area, you will love it. Make sure to take some time to explore some of the food and shops on Main Street. The Baseball Hall of Fame goes without saying if you can make it there. I’d also advise a walk along Otsego Lake in the evening. The Dreams Park is a wonderful place…such a good vibe in Cooperstown this time of year. Hope you and the team have a wonderful(and successful!) time!

My cousins all played american legion ball and the family enjoyed watching them play! There were many great memories and photos from the 70s and 80s.
