Strong thunderstorms

Lines of strong thunderstorms are moving through north and west Alabama. A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for SW Jefferson County. There have been reports of hail and wind damage, including trees down. Rainfall amounts in some areas have been over 1″ in hour.

The storms are moving little, with very light winds in the atmosphere. They are mainly moving according to their own cold outflow boundaries and interactions of those. More storms may fire farther east this afternoon, as cool air rushes out of the current storms and collides with the warm, moist air near BHM. We’ll see.
