Temp range at 10 pm
JB has discussed how Birmingham is not a one-number town when it comes to lows at night. On the way back to Trussville tonight, I tried to keep up with temperature extremes, as indicated by the built-in thermometer on the car. The sudden changes were impressive. See map below.
It was 31 degrees as I crossed the bridge over the Mulberry Fork of the Warrior River on I-65, then 40 degrees up the hill about 3 or 4 miles later. Cold air is dense and flows downhill just like water, so I guess the river being cold shouldn’t surprise us. It was then 33 at Exit 280, dropping to 28 on Morris-Majestic Rd near the railroad tracks. It went back up to 37 on top of a hill near Turkey Creek, back down in Pinson, then up to 44 at the top of the hill on Chalkville Road near I-59 in Trussville! Then, back down to 35 again in downtown Trussville at US-11 and at home.
