Alabama Update Very Early Tuesday

| April 26, 2011 @ 1:54 am | Reply

At 1:55 am at that!

It is early Tuesday morning in Alabama and we are still dealing with severe weather. A line of severe thunderstorms has entered Northwest Alabama with severe lightning and most likely some damaging winds.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for Colbert, Franklin and Lauderdale County–the three most NW counties in the state.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues until at least 5 am for West Tennessee, including Nashville, Northeast Mississippi and the five most NW counties in Alabama.

So, when will all this very rough weather reach the Birmingham Metro area?

Probably not until about 5 am and morning drive may be stormy.

There is a good chance of showers and thunderstorms today (Tuesday) and some of them will almost surely be severe.

WEDNESDAY: That will be our most dangerous time for severe weather. At this early look, Wednesday looks very dangerous. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) in Norman, Okla., has posted an enhanced “moderate risk” of severe weather for North and Central Alabama. This includes places like Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Selma, Gadsden, Anniston, Cullman and all points northward. Almost any type of severe weather could occur:

* Damaging winds in Severe Thunderstorms
* Continuous extreme lightning
* Large hail
* Flash Flooding
* Tornadoes
* Cannot totally rule out the possibility of a few powerful long-track tornadoes.

It is essential that everyone keep abreast of the very latest weather information.

We are certainly not trying to scare anyone…and we will jump for joy if everything falls apart.
