Please try to delay your commute if you can across the Birmingham metro and other hard hit areas of Central Alabama…

The reports of damage are too numerous to completely list…but here is a representative sampling….

Alabama Power reports that 255,000 Alabama Power customers are without power…150,000 in Birmingham Metro.

There is major structural damage, trees down, and power lines down across a wide area across Central Alabama.

Storms started to fire up around 3 a.m. over eastern Mississippi with tornadic damage. This transitioned into a big bow echo that formed over Tuscaloosa and Fayette Counties…it has moved relentless eastward since then…winds gusted to 71 mph at Tuscaloosa. Wind gusts of 80 mph have affected a wide area.

There have been injuries in spots…

Just touching the iceberg with reports…

…Leeds: trees down all over the place according to Jaime Giangrosso

…Vestavia PD reporting hundreds of trees down with gas leaks…answering only injury calls

…Mercedes…we had a fairly reliable report of damage there…

…A large hangar was unroofed at the Birmingham Airport…

…serious structural damage at Berry in Fayette County…law enforcement requests no traffic in or out of Berry except for emergency vehicles…

…entrapment earlier on 8th court west in Birmingham…Fire Department was on scene
