Rapid Moistening

One of the main ingredients in severe weather is moisture. The more you have, the easier it is to make big storms.

An amazing moistening over the past six hours over Mississippi…check out these dewpoint temps:

Vicksburg 61F-70F
Jackson 61F-72F
Natchez 59F-70F
Greenville 63F-72F
Meridian 61F-72F

If you look at a satellite/radar composite, it almost looks like a firehose of moisture at about 5,000 feet coming off the Gulf, rushing across Louisiana and into Mississippi at 65-70 knots! You can actually see the leading edge of the moisture plume in the form of clouds and light precipitation. This will be shifting across Alabama this afternoon and doing the same thing we have seen in Mississippi.

This will help to fuel big thunderstorm development later on this afternoon.
